Lyric:
Yes I'm a travellin' man, I make my
dollar on the road
Perhaps it's not what I should have done, but it's what I do
And it's not easy for you to have me leave you alone
And it's hard for me knowing it's hard for you
Chorus:
Especially the long nights, headlites on the highway
When the darkest hours find me thinking of you alone
And I need you bad and it's so sad that the only way
Is to have me gone wishing I was home or home wishing I was gone
That old wanderlust burns like a gypsy curse
Sometimes I think the circles I run are around myself
But I do love you and I know you love me too
Though at times I guess you wish you loved somebody else
Chorus:
Like in those long nights, headlites on the highway
When the darkest hours find me thinking of you alone
And I need you bad and it's so sad that the only way
Is to have me gone wishing I was home or home wishing I was gone
Yes, I know you'd like to see me take that eight to five
That'd have me home in time for the evening news
But that old road has a hold on me like a drunkards wine
And I crave when I don't have it and loathe when I do
Chorus:
'Cause in those long nights, headlites on the highway
When the darkest hours find me thinking of you alone
And I need you bad and it's so sad that the only way
Is to have me gone wishing I was home or home wishing I was gone
